Memoir Monday — Tourist in my Town

View of Thumb Butte and town from Elk’s Hill

This past weekend, my mom and I took part in a historical walking tour of the town where we live.  I was celebrating my mom’s birthday and, since she moved here a few years ago, we thought it would be a nice way to spend a few hours getting to know the town from a tourist’s point of view.  Prescott was, at one time, the territorial capital which makes it rich in an “Old West” history that includes stories of the Earp Brothers, Doc Holiday and Bucky O’ Neill.  With a showcase of antique shops, historical monuments and a street called Whiskey Row, there’s never a dull moment for anyone who visits.  Here are a few highlights  (all within a two block radius).  What have you done lately to get to know your town?
